What Do Studies Say?

In ‘Cannabidiol as a Potential Treatment for Anxiety Disorders’, Esther M. Blessing of the New York University School of Medicine states that scientists found CBD to be well-tolerated and produced few if any side effects in human subjects, also that certain dosages produced anti-anxiety effects in rats and mice. Blessings’s conclusion was that, “Overall, current evidence indicates CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders, with need for further study of chronic and therapeutic effects in relevant clinical populations.”

How Does It Work?

CBD is derived from industrial hemp which is the male version of the cannabis plant; which is very consistent and high in CBD strains and low in THC (the component that creates an euphoria). However,  there is growing scientific research suggesting that CBD asked similarly to traditional anti-depressants that stimulate serotonin production and reception. The exact mechanism isn’t yet clear, but it is thought that CBD targets serotonin receptors in our brains. This would make serotonin, an anxiety-easing hormone, more available for our bodies to use.

 

How Much CBD Is Enough?

Dosages vary from person to person, and depend on factors like weight and tolerance. The best strategy is to start at a lower dose and increase it slowly until you achieve the best results.
