CBD and Anxiety
If you are one of the estimated 31% of Americans who live with anxiety each day, you might have been encouraged by the growing mountain of anecdotal evidence that cannabidiol (CBD) is an effective resource. There have been reports of anxiety-sufferers who saw vast improvements in their levels of anxiety and quality of sleep while using CBD, but scientific studies have been scarce until very recently.
The results look promising. Is science finally acknowledging a truth that so many people have believed all along? Does CBD help minimize anxiety? Let’s take a closer look at the facts about CBD and anxiety.
What Do Studies Say?
In ‘Cannabidiol as a Potential Treatment for Anxiety Disorders’, Esther M. Blessing of the New York University School of Medicine states that scientists found CBD to be well-tolerated and produced few if any side effects in human subjects, also that certain dosages produced anti-anxiety effects in rats and mice. Blessings’s conclusion was that, “Overall, current evidence indicates CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders, with need for further study of chronic and therapeutic effects in relevant clinical populations.”
How Does It Work?
CBD is derived from industrial hemp which is the male version of the cannabis plant; which is very consistent and high in CBD strains and low in THC (the component that creates an euphoria). However, there is growing scientific research suggesting that CBD asked similarly to traditional anti-depressants that stimulate serotonin production and reception. The exact mechanism isn’t yet clear, but it is thought that CBD targets serotonin receptors in our brains. This would make serotonin, an anxiety-easing hormone, more available for our bodies to use.
How Much CBD Is Enough?
Dosages vary from person to person, and depend on factors like weight and tolerance. The best strategy is to start at a lower dose and increase it slowly until you achieve the best results. We are always on hand to guide you and make product recommendations. Don’t hesitate to ask us for more information about using CBD for your anxiety!
How Do I Use It?
Sublingual oil is the most popular dosing method for newcomers. By using the pipette to place the oil drops under the tongue and holding them there for a moment before swallowing, the CBD is able to cross the thin sublingual barrier and enter the bloodstream. We even have different flavors to make this a more pleasant experience. Or, if this delivery method isn’t for you, we have a wide variety of CBD creams, edibles, and more to choose from.
Where Can I Find the Best CBD?
To make sure you’re getting what you pay for, always choose a company that publishes independent lab tests of their products. This is for your own safety; you want to be sure the products actually contain CBD, and don’t contain any harmful chemicals. Your CBD Store in Keller makes our lab reports available to you under our lab reporting tab.
